The second round of Egypt’s 2010 parliamentary election was held on Sunday. The only unexpected feature, if any, of the poll was perhaps the ruling NDP’s clear determination to squeeze out the opposition and give an indication of the lengths it is prepared to go to in future in order to consolidate its position and preserve the regime’s interests.
